Each municipality pavement represents a valuable investment, and to get the most out of that investment, you’ll need to maintain it on a regular basis. In order to keep all pavement maintained, you need to reseal each paving project every 2-4 years, and here’s what the resealing process can do for you:
1. Eliminates Mold & Mildew
Before your driveway can be sealed, it must first have all vegetation destroyed. Pesky plants force their way through the cracks in the pavement, breaking apart the asphalt and weakening the aggregate bond. All unwanted plants will be treated with preventative chemicals.
2. Cleans Up Harmful Chemicals
The pavement is powerwashed before the sealant is added, so all car fluid stains, gas puddles, tree sap, and other substances are completely removed. The sealant can then adhere to the pavement the way it’s supposed to and it’ll protect the pavement from future car leaks.
3. Smooths the Paved Surface
All the potholes and cracks in the pavement are repaired with high-quality asphalt and aggregate. The material is then compressed down into the hole with a high pressure tool that compacts the hot pavement. Once the sealant is added, the surface will be shiny and smooth.
4. Trims the Pavement Edges
The chemicals in the sealant kill the grass outlining the pavement, leaving behind a trim, neat edge. Sealant leaves behind a better edge that a weed wacker as it leaves the grass looking fresh and maintained instead of chopped and haphazard.
The pavement of all municipalities needs to be maintained for it to keep an average lifespan, which is anywhere from 10-15 years.
